BLUEBIRDS midfielder Keith O'Halloran played his part in an improved second half display against Stafford Rangers and hopes his experience can help drag the side back up the table.
The former Swindon Town star accepted that Stafford more than deserved to win the game but feels there were still positives in Chippenham's second half performance.
"I felt Stafford did play really well down the hill but in the second half we created a few chances," he said.
"If we had taken one of them the whole game could have changed but we just never took them.
"We could have got a goal in the second half which might have changed it but we didn't and they deserved the points over the 90 minutes."
O'Halloran's introduction at half-time settled down the Bluebirds' midfield as he used his experience to direct the play and vocally encourage and prompt his team-mates.
"That's the way I play, that's me and I can't change that," added O'Halloran. I get on well with the lads and want to keep that up.
"Hopefully I will be at the club for the rest of the season. If the manager still wants me to play I am happy to play.
"We are in a battle at the lower end of the table but they are all games. We've got to start turning some games into wins now.
"It doesn't matter about the performances really we have got to get the three points and get out of the bottom half.
"I did feel it was a fair result. On the first half performance we could have been five or six behind.
"But we had a couple of chances near the end and if one of those had gone in it could have come back to 3-3.
"It was one of those games when we had chances playing down the hill but we never had that bit of luck we needed."
O'Halloran said the players now need to draw a line under the performance and concentrate on this weekend's trip to Merthyr Tydfil.
"The lads were feeling low afterwards because we got steamrollered," he said. "But we've got to pick ourselves up now and try and get a result.
"I was happy to start the Stafford game on the bench because my injury was still giving me some pain.
"I don't know if I will be fit enough to start the Merthyr game because I was feeling a bit sore after the final whistle.
"I will train with Swindon this week and see how it goes."
