A GOAL apiece from the Messenger twins and a late effort by Barry Flippance earned Pewsey a place in the second round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.
Wiltshire League Premier Division Cricklade looked odds on to cause a shock as they marched into a two-goal lead inside the first half hour.
But Pewsey battled back and edged out their plucky opponents by the odd goal in five.
Vale boss Steve Wootton never felt his side were in danger of losing despite seeing them go two goals down.
He said: "It wasn't that Cricklade were outplaying us. They scored through two bad mistakes by us. On their second goal our goalkeeper came out and made a mistake which they scored from.
"But we scored at just the right time at the end of the first half. Then we got a goal early in second half and I felt we would go on to win it.
"Cricklade had two quick lads up front who caused us problems on the ground."
The key spell came in the 54th minute when Cricklade were denied by two great saves by Wilson and within two minutes Pewsey had equalised.
With extra time looming a high ball into the Cricklade goalmouth had their goalkeeper in all sorts of trouble and Flippance put Vale ahead.
