CASH totalling £4,540, found in the loft of a Swindon man accused of conspiring to supply drugs, was being saved towards a trip to Disneyland, a court heard on Tuesday.

Richard Brinsdon made the claim after being arrested at the end of an operation, which saw 10 people facing conspiracy charges.

Brinsdon, of Penhill Drive, Penhill; Mark Kirwan, 42, of Farrfield, Upper Stratton; Craig Wanless, 27, of Braydon Court, Penhill; Tracy Bunce, 41, of Croft Road, Old Town; Graham Stratton, 32, of Ebbw Vale, South Wales; Colin Roy Butler, 58, and his wife Winifred Rose, 54, of Bermondsey, all denied conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Butler, Bunce and Stratton, also denied conspiring to supply cannabis. The others admit it.

Vincent Gibbs, 37, of Croft Road and William Livingstone, 35, of Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North, have admitted both charges.

Bristol Crown Court heard that Brinsdon, a self-employed carpenter, told police the cash had been saved up over eight months for a trip to Disneyland.

He claimed he supplemented his income with cash-in-hand jobs at £100 a day.

Brinsdon admitted he had been a cocaine user in the past but told police drugs were not a part of his life any more.

Bunce told police she had lived with Gibbs for 15 years and had heard of a man called Colin, but never met him. She denied any involvement in drug dealing.

Former Swindon man Stratton, who said he had a liver transplant after taking an ecstasy tablet, told detectives he used to have a big cocaine habit. At one point he owed Gibbs £9,000.

He had borrowed money from his father-in-law to pay his debts and start a new life. He denied supplying drugs to pay off his debts.
