YOUNGSTERS at schools and playgroups across the county are joining in the Operation Christmas Child appeal supported by the Gazette and Herald.
Tiny tots at Leapfrog Nursery in Chippenham, and pupils at Pewsey Vale School are busy collecting and making up boxes ready to go to needy children in eastern Europe.
Methodists in Pewsey are also supporting the annual appeal run by the Samaritan's Purse.
Shoeboxes full of goodies provided by the church members, friends and supporters go to Pewsey Vale School where they join a huge consignment provided by the students and their families.
Methodist spokesman Stephen Longson said they have a target of more than 350 boxes filled with toys, toiletries, stationery, games, jewellery, make-up and hair accessories or sweets.
Anyone taking along filled boxes must make sure that while the box and lid are wrapped, they are not sealed as all boxes will need to be checked to make sure they meets Customs requirements.
Anyone wanting to make a donation to the church to be used to buy items to go in Operation Christmas Child boxes should ring Mr Longson on (01672) 563171.
Gazette offices in Devizes and Chippenham are also acting as drop- off points for the shoe boxes.
Leaflets explaining exactly what should and should not go in the boxes along with stickers to indicate what age group the gift is suitable for, are also available at our offices.
