Councillors have agreed to pay out more than £3,700 on tree surgery in the town and budget for future work.
Calne Town Council regarded tree surgery work in Bentley Wood and on the Horsebrook Nature Trail as a priority at a meeting last week and voted to pay for the necessary work to be carried out.
The council also discussed putting money aside each year to deal with the ongoing costs of tree surgery.
"This has never been looked at proactively and we decided to budget for any tree work in the future. A proportion of the budget will be set aside each year," said Calne Town councillor Cathy Bowyer.
Work to be immediately carried out includes a horse chestnut tree in Bentley Wood. The Wessex Wood Company surveyed the tree and recommended the crown and limbs be reduced to avoid any potential damage to Wessington Lodge, the nearby property.
