A BUTCHER has saved the bacon for youngsters planning to stage their Christmas Gang Show.
Harold James, who runs E&H James in Cricklade High Street, heard of the appeal by brownies, cubs, scouts and guides' for a goose needed for one sketch in their production, which is being staged at the Wyvern Theatre next week.
So Mr James has donated his goose lamp, which can usually be seen on his shop counter.
He said "I am really pleased to help. With Christmas round the corner, I thought I would show some festive generosity."
Cricklade cub leader Anne Francis said: "We are so pleased to have found a goose.
"An enormous amount of work has gone into this show and we are really looking forward to it."
Around 100 youngsters will be on stage at the Wyvern for four nights from next Wednesday.
Shows take place at 7.30pm and there will be a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets prices start at £7 and can be bought in advance on Swindon 524481.
