OWEN Bryan has moved to Melksham Town this week determined to prove a point to his former boss Colin Bush.
The striker finalised the move from Corsham Town to the Conigre on Monday and goes into tomorrow's match at Odd Down eager for goals.
Bryan, 21, had only started two games for Corsham this season and had made a further five substitute appearances, scoring one goal.
He is due to have an operation in the next couple of months to investigate a loose screw in his leg that was put in when he broke it playing for Bath City Youth two seasons ago.
Bush insists he left Bryan out of the team because he was not fully fit.
But Bryan believes his ex-manager had other reasons for not picking him.
He said: "Nobby told me he wasn't playing me because of my injury but that's rubbish, he knows that I was fit.
"I just don't think he rated me very much. I don't know why but he just didn't like the way I played.
"He started me for a couple of games and then left me out for whatever reason. I never got a chance."
Bryan started his career at Swindon Town and played there until the age of 14. He then enjoyed spells at Cirencester academy, Derby County, Team Bath, Bath City, Corsham and Devizes, before moving back to Corsham in the summer. He had the opportunity to join Melksham at the start of the season but decided to go to the Southbank and he now regrets that decision.
He said: "Nigel Tripp wanted me here in the summer but Colin Bush talked me into going to Corsham.
"It was the wrong decision as things didn't work out for me there. I'm pleased as punch to be here now.
"Melksham seem to think a lot more of me than Corsham did and it is also a higher level of football.
"I have got some good friends here, whereas at Corsham I didn't really know anybody."
Bryan enjoyed an explosive debut on Monday night scoring a brave diving header after coming on as a substitute in Melksham's 3-0 Les Phillips Cup win over Bridport.
"I was very happy with the goal," he said. "Usually I am not the bravest of players and I can't believe that I stuck my head down there. I thought I was going to get mullered.
"I just want to try and get a place in the starting line up and start enjoying my football again.
"Hopefully I should not be out for too long after my operation and I won't miss too many games.
"My main priority now is to start banging in the goals and proving Colin Bush wrong."
Nigel Tripp is now looking for his side to start climbing the table.
He said: "It is important to start putting points on the board and making our way up the league.
"We have improved since the start of the season and we need to make this improvement count."
Bryan Kayll is available after missing the last two games because of work commitments and is expected to slot straight into the defence.
