LADY Godiva will ride again in Westbury today after a woman came forward to bare all and ride through the town on a white horse.

Claire Fonteyne, 24, read about the search for a Lady Godiva to take part in the town's efforts for Children in Need in last week's Wiltshire Times.

Her family are committed fundraisers, after her niece, Trowbridge schoolgirl Charlotte Wakeham, died earlier this year after she lost her brave battle against cancer.

Claire's mother Wendy Bryant said: "Claire and I saw the paper and decided that one of us should volunteer for it, and there was no way I would."

"I am very proud of Claire for doing this as it takes a lot of nerve to bare all in front of a crowd."

The noon parade of Lady Godiva through the streets of Westbury is the highlight of a day of fundraising events for BBC Children in Need, organised by staff at Halifax, High Street, and town crier Sean Price.

Mr Price said: "I hope Lady Godiva will add some interest to the event and we want as many people as possible to come along and help us raise money for Children in Need.

"Last year we raised £3,000 and it would be amazing if we could smash that total this time. The more people that make it along the merrier."

Halifax staff will be dressed as highwaymen and attempting to hold up the traffic for donations.

Winston, a 15 hands high grey horse, will bear Claire through the town today.

Derry O'Hara, manager of Fairview Stables where Winston lives, said: "I am confident he will behave himself but it depends what the traffic is like."
