Among the thousands of England fans cheering their squad to victory in Sydney tomorrow will be Swindon Council leader Mike Bawden.
Coun Bawden (Con, Old Town and Lawns) has given local politics a rest for a few weeks to enjoy a holiday in Australia with his wife Joyce.
A big rugby fan, he has been to all but one of England's qualifiers.
Speaking to the Advertiser from Sydney, he said: "England have played fantastically well.
"Everyone was talking about Jonny Wilkinson after the game against France, but the whole team played well in terrible weather.
"I don't think the French really had their hearts in it.
"The atmosphere was terrific, and I would say 40 to 50 per cent of the supporters were English.
"A lot of English fans here are very confident, while the Australians are quite apprehensive, especially about Wilkinson.
"Wherever you go, everyone is talking about the match tomorrow.
"As soon as people realise you're English they ask you for a prediction.
"I am feeling pretty hopeful!"
