MANAGER Sue Aldridge is facing an expensive trip to McDonalds after her football team won for the first time for four years on Sunday.
Her Melksham Park 2nds XI team ended their barren run with a 5-2 win in the under 14s Red Division of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.
In an ironic twist the long-awaited victory came against the Melksham Park first team who are also yet to record a victory this season and who play in the same division.
Sue had promised her players a treat if they ever won a game.
She said: "After the game they were all arguing about whether it should be pizzas or burgers which I had said I would buy them if they won a game.
"To be honest we don't even remember the exact time of our last victory because it was so long ago.
"We have eight or nine lads who have stuck with us since the age of eight and we have lost by 20 goals on a few occasions.
"We call ourselves Melksham Park Spartans, because the Spartans never gave up and neither have we.
"We are not bottom of the league and that was our ambition for this season so we are all delighted."
There was nothing between the two in the first half with both sides scoring twice to go in 2-2 at the break.
A second half hat-trick for Chris Maclachlan then gave Melksham Park 2nds the win they have been longing for.
Their other goals came from Joseph Scott (2), with Sean Anteny and Joe Hargreaves replying for Melksham Park.
