TROWBRIDGE comfortably progressed to the third round of the Dorset and Wilts Vase as they demolished their Swindon opponents on Saturday.
Supermarine were promoted into the Dorset and Wilts Division one this season but were no match for their Southern Counties League opposition.
Trowbridge went into the match unchanged from their impressive win over Westbury the previous week and they produced a performance that will encourage coach Alex Hill.
The opening 10 minutes were scrappy with both sides unable to gain any sort of possession with play breaking down at rucks and mauls.
Trowbridge were trying to play expansive rugby but their final pass was not going to hand as Supermarine put in some hard tackles.
Trowbridge took the lead when some exciting interplay between their forward and backs led to a penalty just outside the 22. Winger Nicky Little made no mistake in slotting the ball through the posts for three points.
The visitors then began to settle and the rest of the half was like a procession as Trowbridge ran over five tries.
The scorers were Jamie Little, Jerry Cox, Dave Passmore, Nicky Little and Richard Jones as they went in with a 28-0 lead at the break.
The second half began in similar fashion with Trowbridge able to run the ball from all areas of the pitch and through some excellent support play were able to score more tries.
Adam Sullivan scored two while Tom Hannam, Jerry Cox, James Lawes, Jerry Almond, Jamie Little and Francis Chandler scored the other second half tries.
Credit must be given to Supermarine for not giving up and they managed to make three breaks from their back line which could have punished the Trowbridge defence but for some excellent cover tackling.
Trowbridge have no game tomorrow due to England taking on Australia in the World Cup Final but play Dorchester next Saturday in a Southern Counties League match.
