Drinkers in Swindon are almost twice as likely to feel flirtatious after the odd tipple than anywhere else in the country, a survey has revealed.
And we are also ahead of the field when it comes to harbouring alcohol-induced feelings of aggression.
Around 1,000 people were interviewed across the country for the telephone survey, conducted by alternative medicine hangover reliever Cynara Artichoke.
Three-quarters of Swin-donians said they felt happy after a few drinks, while 15 per cent admitted they felt flirty, compared to the national average of nine per cent.
And the after-effects of a night on the booze are felt by some 36 per cent of drinkers in the town, who have turned up for work with a hangover.
But a quarter of those asked said they would not let on to the boss that they were suffering.
Meanwhile almost half those surveyed in Swin-don said they disapproved of people who get into such a state and go to work with a hangover.
The survey also revealed that 12 per cent have been unable to work properly because of a hangover while 29 per cent said they had woken up the morning after and regretted their actions after a drink too many.
Dr Sarah Brewer, who analysed the results, said: "It's not surprising that the majority of people from Swindon claim to be happy drinkers, with only a few admitting to becoming emotional or aggressive.
"Many people experience short-term memory loss during a drinking session. While they feel elated at the start due to loss of inhibitions, they can also become sensitive and irrational as their intake increases and the sedative effect of alcohol takes over."
Cynara Artichoke is a herbal supplement that stimulates the production of bile to help break down and eliminate alcohol from the body.
