THE Swindon Model Railway Club celebrates its golden anniversary year tomorrow and Sunday with a special exhibition.
When the club was first formed, some of the classic engines its members now celebrate had yet to be built.
Club treasurer Iain Steel said: "It was on October 12, 1953 that six like minded railway modellers joined together and formally founded the Swindon Model Railway Club.
"A lot of archive material on the club has been assembled for the exhibition.
"We will also be pleased to see any former members."
The exhibition is also the club's annual MODRAIL exhibition, at which members show off their layouts and their skills at modelling.
It will be held at Greendown Community School, running from 10am until 5pm on both days.
In honour of the anniversary, the exhibition will also feature old photographs and literature relating to the club, its work and its history, along with trade stands and stands operated by railway preservation societies.
Admission will cost £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for senior citizens and £1.50 for children.
Family admission for two adults and two children will cost £9. Wheelchair access will be available.
