ANDY KING'S hopes of extending Junior Lewis' stay at the County Ground look set to be dashed.
The midfielder's one-month loan spell expires after the visit of Queens Park Rangers tomorrow.
And, while King would happily prolong Lewis' stay in Wiltshire, he has little say in the matter due to a 'contractual dispute' between the player and his club Leicester City.
King said: "I think the issue is going to be taken out of my hands.
"He has a problem with his club and my understanding is that he will return to Leicester on Sunday unless something changes.
"It's nothing to do with us there's a contractual dispute that he has to sort out and if he doesn't by the weekend then he has to return."
If tomorrow's clash with the league leaders is to be Lewis' swansong, King paid tribute to the 30-year-old , pictured above, for his efforts during his second spell at the County Ground.
"I think he's done well," said King.
"He's a different type of player.
"Sometimes you think he makes no contribution and he looks ponderous but he covers a lot of ground.
"He looks like he's doing nothing but he never gives the ball away.
"I have no quarrels with him as a person or as a player but when he's contracted to another club then unfortunately it's for them to do what they want with him."
While contract issues deprive King of one player, another will extend his stay after signing a new deal this afternoon.
Striker Sam Parkin finally put pen to paper after lengthy negotiations and Town's manager was delighted to retain the services of the club's 'best asset'.
King said: "He (Parkin) has made his commitment to the club.
"He loves Swindon Town, it's been good to him and he's been good for them, and he's shown that by choosing to stay.
"We're very pleased to have him he's our best asset in monetary terms."
