I AM writing in response to Cllr Jeff Osborn's letter last week praising the introduction of the new team of Community Support Officers.
Although I agree with his sentiments entirely I just wish he had kept his thoughts to himself. Doesn't he realise by now that if anything is a big success in this area it very soon faces the chop?
For example we had the extremely popular Shopmobility shop closed down, the very successful rail service from Bradford on Avon to Waterloo is to be axed next year, the Trowbridge Hospital maternity unit faces a doubtful future and the much used hopper bus service from west Wiltshire to Bath RUH is likely to be discontinued. And now the axe is looming over Trowbridge's hugely popular West Wilts Show.
It seems as though the powers that be in this area have a death wish to keep west Wiltshire permanently in the doldrums.
As the housing in the area rapidly increases, so the facilities get less.
