NIGEL Curtis is one of the most sought after players in the Screwfix League, but the Corsham Town captain is not letting all the transfer speculation distract him from his main aim ahead of tomorrow's game at home to Larkhall Athletic.
The former Devizes midfielder has had a number of clubs interested in signing him this season, the most recent being Paulton Rovers, but Curtis insists he is happy where he is and just wants to help Corsham move up the table.
He said: "Corsham Town suits me and I am very happy where I am at the moment.
"I am a Corsham lad as I was brought up here and all I am concentrating on is trying to turn the fortunes of the club around.
"Nobby (Bush) told me his plans at the start of the season and nothing has changed. So I still want to be part of moving Corsham forward."
Curtis, 29, signed for Corsham this summer from Brislington and was immediately made captain.
He has proved a rock at the heart of the Corsham defence at the start of this season and he believes they are on the right track to becoming a top side.
He said: "We have had our ups and downs so far this season but I would say more ups than downs.
"We are definitely moving forward and improving all the time and are probably quite near to where we need to be.
"At the start of the season we were playing well but not picking up results but now even when we don't play as well we seem to get something. Perhaps luck is on our side for once."
Corsham have won their last three games and Curtis believes it is important that they keep their good run going against Larkhall.
He said: "We need to keep pushing our way up the league as we have to aim for as high a place as possible.
"We have won the last three games on the bounce and so it is important to try and keep the run going."
Bush is likely to name an unchanged side for tomorrow's match with their only slight doubt being Russell Lodge who is suffering from the flu.
If Lodge fails to recover, Bush will add new signing Matt Hobbs to the squad but if not, the defender from Team Bath will have to wait until next week before being involved.
Bush is expecting a tough match from Larkhall, fifth in Division One, but is looking for his side to build on their recent good form.
He said: "A lot of players know each other from both sides so whatever happens it should be a good afternoon of football.
"But we have to try and keep our progress going and look to get something out of tomorrow's match."
