WARMINSTER police's crack down on shoplifting gathered momentum this week with the arrest of a man found with up to £500 of stolen goods.
Police used CCTV footage to track a suspected shoplifter after he escaped from Boots on Monday afternoon. The man ran off empty handed after he was challenged by security staff.
Officers later discovered a man in Weymouth Street in a van containing between £400 and £500 of stolen goods including wine and toys.
A 30-year-old man from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of theft and was bailed to attend Warminster police station on December 16.
PC Brian McAuley, of Warm-inster police, said: "We believe there were other people involved and we are still looking for them."
Anyone with information should call PC McAuley or PC Vincent Logue on (01985) 847000.
