BRADFORD on Avon Oxfam and Amnesty groups meet on Monday to discuss the future role of the United Nations.
The debate is being led by Malcolm Harper, director of the United Nations Association, who has taken part in national discussions on the role the UN should play in resolving wars worldwide.
Amnesty and Oxfam members from Bradford have held joint debates for three years on a topic relevant to both organisations.
They have recently begun a new campaign called Control Arms which aims to halt the free spread of the arms trade across the world, which they believe is fuelling conflict and poverty in the third world.
Sir Donald Maitland, a retired senior diplomat from Bradford, who served in many parts of the world including Iraq, is chairing the meeting, which starts at 7.30pm in St Margaret's Hall in the town.
