HOW great it was to read Martin Vincent's report on Hugh Freebury.
When his book was in the lending library at only £1 I believe I thought this would be a great book for my husband. And yes, this book is picked up time after time to read the truest account ever of what the workshops and the men were all about.
As for the churches, chapels and missions, all children in their Sunday best would attend services mostly three times a day. As Hugh rightly said we all remember today the hymns we sang then.
We have other railway books but would vote this one the best ever.
So thanks Martin Vincent for the article about Hugh.
