RAF Lyneham engineer, Paul Galliemore, who is one of 50 people to take up a radio challenge to take a cardboard cut-out of two new breakfast show presenters to as many interesting places as possible, has taken his on a far flung adventure.

Sgt Galliemore, 40, signed up to take part in the competition just over a week ago, and hoped that by taking his cut-out to Belize, via Florida and Newfoundland, he could bump up his points considerably.

He said: "The aim of the competition is to score as many points as possible, by having photographs taken of the cardboard cut-out in strange place."

"Luckily, since starting the competition, I've had a week off work, so I've already managed to get them snapped in lots of interesting places including a Status Quo concert in Bristol last week.

"Through work, I went to Belize for five days and I took them along to get lots of pictures at international airports and other interesting locations along the way."

Father-of-three Mr Galliemore said he decided to enter the competition because his son Christopher 16, is due to start driving next year.

"It would be great to be able to have a second car in the family so Chris could practice his driving," he explained.

"But most of all, I entered the competition because it's fun and really is a bit mad.

"My wife Melanie and daughters May and Amy think it's all a bit embarrassing with me having to go everywhere with a cardboard cut-out.

"And when I tried to get them to pose with it for a photo at school the other day, they were horrified and I had to have a pic of some of their friends instead.

"It was a little strange to start with, but I'm kind of used to having the cut-outs with me now and there are lots of other people walking around with them so why not?"

Sgt Galliemore has until tomorrow to amass as many points as possible.

The competitor with the most points amassed from photographing the cut-out will scoop a brand new Daewoo car.
