YET another Poppy Appeal and Remembrance time has passed. May I through your paper thank the people of Devizes and the surrounding villages, for their generosity yet again. We are still counting and have already exceeded last year's total.
But the measure of a good organiser is to get lots of other people to do the hard work. Can I please mention my village organisers Elizabeth Currie of All Cannings, Lady Belinda Johnston of Worton, Shirley Ann Jones of Bishop's Cannings, Judy Milne of Bath and Avon roads area, John Scammel at Poulshot, Mrs J Smith at Stanton St Bernard, Jane Stone of Urchfont and last but not least, Murial Wheeler of Rowde.
Then we have the businesses who make room on counters or whatever for a collecting box. A special thank you to Tesco and Safeway, who go out of their way to make us welcome and look after us.
Thanks also to the team that prepare and operate the appeal,we could not do it without you. Thank you Gazette for the help you have given us over the years.
