VOLUNTEERS are needed for a winter work day to help clear an overgrown railway path.
Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, are seeking helpers to clear vegetation on the Chiseldon to Marlborough railway path to create a cyclepath of December 6.
This section of the path will form part of the Ancient Stones Cycle Route, a new national cycle network.
Once completed it will take in some of the most important historical sites in the south.
The route is due to open in 2005 and will include some of Wiltshire's most famous sites, including the Saxon town of Cricklade, The Ridgeway and Stonehenge.
Volunteers are invited to come along and help widen the path, prune the hedgerows and make the route safer and more attractive to use.
Anyone who is interested in taking part in the day, which runs from 10am until 4pm, must register in advance, by calling 0117 915 0129 or by e-mailing rangers-south@sustrans.org.uk
