Inspectors have given top marks to Avebury Primary School. Headteacher Judy Gidzewicz, who starts a new job after Christmas, will leave behind a glowing Ofsted report.
The inspectors' only criticism was a lack of teaching assistants but Mrs Gidzewicz said the school could not afford them. Otherwise the report praised the way the school is run and the way teachers and pupils work.
It also praised achievements which are above average in English and satisfactory in other subjects.
There was particular praise for Mrs Gidzewicz who becomes head of Tintagel Primary School, Cornwall, in the New Year.
The report stated: "The leadership of the headteacher is very good and the management of the school is good."
Ofsted said that since the last inspection there had been significant improvement in the achievement of the more able pupils.
They noted that 15 of the school's 50 pupils well above the national average had special needs but praised the provision for them.
The report added: "Pupils clearly enjoy school and are very happy."
