CHRISTMAS deliveries are in doubt because of a shortage of drivers, warns Blue Arrow.
The recruitment specialist, which has an office in Commercial Road, Swindon, has issued a call to action for qualified drivers to help local haulage companies deliver and receive goods in time for the festive period.
Traditionally, the closing months of the year are one of the busiest times for the logistics industry, but despite 80 per cent of domestic freight being carried by road, the sector continues to suffer from a nationwide shortage.
Mark Brooks, head of Blue Arrow Driving said: "With consumers planning to spend more than £800 each on Christmas this year, distributive industries are under huge pressure to meet supply chain demands.
"There simply aren't enough professional drivers to go around."
To tempt drivers the agency is offering a £100 bonus to anyone who recommends a driver who subsequently completes 100 hours.
