Ref. 27894-50STAFF and pupils at Lainesmead Primary School are celebrating after winning a Basic Skills Agency quality mark for the second time.
"The quality mark is an assurance to parents that we are providing high standards of teaching," said head Jeannette Turner.
"But it also confirms what Ofsted said about the school's improving SATs results."
The agency, which is funded by the Government, aims to improve children's skills in reading, writing and numeracy.
Schools working for an award have to meet high standards in teaching and learning support. They must also have action plans to improve their performance and have close liaison with parents.
"We have workshops to show how we do things in school so there is continuity at home,'' said Mrs Turner.
The school in Walcot first won the award back in 2000 after three years of monitoring.
To win it for the second time involved staff providing fresh evidence of continued improvement.
Thirteen schools in Swindon have won Basic Skills Agency quality marks.
