The latest in a series of public debates in Chippenham provoked a passionate discussion about war.
Kandu Arts for Sustainable Development initiated a series of debates at the Pack Horse pub in London Road to give everyone the opportunity to share their thoughts about the need for war and whether it is ever morally justifiable.
Kandu director Ed Deedigan chaired the session on Monday night, attended by 18 people of all ages.
Volunteers started the debate expressing their ideas for and against the necessity of war before the discussion was thrown open to the assembly.
The session began at 8pm and was going strong until about 10.30pm with lots of ideas and fierce argument on both sides of the table.
"We will speak about any issue that is relevant to the community," said Mr Deedigan.
"We are trying to get people into the idea they can initiate debate, and get engaged with, the issues."
The last debate examined the pros and cons of GM foods and the next will look at consumerism.
Future issues could include fox hunting, the NHS and vegetarianism.
The December debate will begin at 7.30pm on December 15 and everyone is welcome.
