THE Wessex Male Voice Choir is on the look-out for new talent - in the hope it will bring success in an international competition.
The choir will be holding a recruitment evening on Tuesday at the Church of Christ the Servant, Elstree Way, Abbey Meads.
The 38-strong choir needs to boost its numbers by at least 12 before Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod next July. The festival is regarded as one of the top music events in the world and up to 5,000 competitors from across the world take to the stage.
Robert Elliott, who founded the choir in 2001, said: "We are not expecting people to come in and sing like Pavarotti. No previous experience is necessary.
"We provide some musical training as part of rehearsals and also have a buddy system so that new recruits are looked after by someone.
"The singing can be hard work but takes place in a fun atmosphere.
The choir performs all types of music from opera to West End musicals.
It meets every Tuesday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
The recruitment evening will start at 7.30pm and there will be drinks afterwards at the Abbey Mead pub in Elstree Way.
