EXPECTATIONS are high as Steve White takes the Chippenham Town hotseat tomorrow, but the new Bluebirds boss has warned fans there will be no 'quick fix'.
The bottom club in th Dr Martens Premier Division take a break from their league woes when they entertain Basingstoke in the second round of the FA Trophy.
White (pictured) confirmed he had settled well into the role as Tommy Saunders' successor but insisted that an immediate reversal in fortunes is unlikely given the club's ongoing injury crisis.
Said White: "The lads' chins are on the floor at the moment and they need picking up.
"The response at training on Tuesday night was excellent but there's no quick fix.
"We have several influential players out with long-term injury problems.
"I am aware of their capabilities and what they can add to the side but there's no point rushing them back if they're not ready."
The likes of Mark Badman, Simon Charity, Pat Mountain, Colin Towler and Ellis Wilmot remain on the treatment table and White has targeted potential replacements.
He said: "We definitely need to bring in new players to improve the squad and I do have a couple of names in mind.
"But at this stage of the season I may have to wait a couple of months before I can bring them in."
There seems little chance of any signings prior to Basingstoke's visit but 'Chalky' has hinted at a different style of play and formation compared to Saunders' rigid 4-4-2.
"There will be no mass change in personnel but I've got my own ideas on how I want the team to play football.
"We'll have to see if we have the players to do that."
Meanwhile, White has confirmed that former Chippenham player Ronnie Needham will be his assistant at Hardenhuish.
Former assistant and caretaker boss Adie Mings reverts to his playing role and is set to lead the line against his former club tomorrow.
White insisted that Needham will inject a new lease of life to a subdued squad while veteran striker Mings remains a key part of the managerial team, continuing to coach and scout for the club.
"Ronnie is a man of many talents," he said.
"He is a tremendous motivator and he will show a lot of people what he can do.
"I've had a long chat with Adie and he has been a total gentleman.
"I've told him he can play an invaluable role with his knowledge of the local scene something which I need to work on."
