CHECKPOINT Charlie was part of the itinerary during a recent visit by Year 10 and 11 pupils from Churchfields School.
Some, pictured left, donned Russian army-style hats after visiting the historic former Cold War border checkpoint between the East and West sectors of the city.
They were interested to see the site, which featured in dozens of espionage novels and films over the years.
The 16 students, who were accompanied by two teachers, studied this and other historic sites in and around the German capital.
Headteacher Steve Flavin said: "They spent four days visiting famous buildings, monuments and museums so they could learn about the history of a fascinating major European capital. They visited a former concentration camp where students experienced the realities of life in Nazi Germany, and the Olympic Stadium which will host the World Cup Final in 2006.
"The trip provided a wonderful opportunity to hear and practise German and to experience a different culture."
