YOUNG people in Wiltshire are calling for the voting age to be reduced from 18 to 16.
A mobile phone text debate and poll organised by Wiltshire County Council showed 56 per cent of secondary school youngsters felt they should be able to take part in elections from an earlier age.
Students were also asked what they thought the main issues in Wiltshire were and expressed concerns about the levels of violent crime and growth of what they called 'yob culture'.
They wanted to see more public transport and leisure facilities. Another major issue was bullying in schools.
The youth develop-ment service is producing a new magazine called db8 with the help of youngsters.
