INDIAN food and culture gave added spice to a children's celebration of the Hindu new year at a Hilperton nursery.
Pre-school children at the Just Learning nursery, Hackett Place, celebrated Diwali, the ancient Hindu festival of light on Wednesday.
Children were taught how to make and wear saris, cooked and ate Indian food and were visited by Hindu Demi Ladwa.
Ros Green, nursery manager, said: "It is important that the children learn to understand and appreciate the different cultures within our society today.
"Demi's visit will bring the project to life and she will allow us to experience the diversity of Indian culture for ourselves."
Over 30 children at the nursery took part and even cooked a Diwali fruit salad using traditional fruits including guava.
Every month the pre-school holds a cultural open day giving kids the chance to taste exotic foods.
