Cricklade, currently top of Dorset & Wilts Two North having won all their six matches, lost 7-5 to Fairford in a friendly after the league fixture at Aldbourne was called off.
Cricklade took along a very strong unit, but struggled early on in the wild weather conditions.
Fairford handled the conditions better and forced a try that was subsequently converted.
Cricklade continued to struggle, but managed to strike back through a try by Adam Vince which they could not convert.
In the second half, Cricklade grabbed the lion's share of possession, but their lack of flair and the poor service to the backs permitted Fairford to hang on comfortably to the end.
