POLICE are appealing for witnesses to what they have called a volatile incident involving several motorists in the Broad Street area of the town centre.

Officers have only just revealed that the fracas took place on November 16 at around 2.30pm, but are particularly keen to track down one man who saw the whole thing.

They have confirmed that a minor traffic infringement led to an argument and several people were arrested.

PC James Martin said: "This was a serious incident and I would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help with inquiries to call me."

Witnesses are urged to ring 01793 528111 or Crimestoppers 0800 555111 with details.
