WITCH-HUNTS will not be on the agenda for a Town board looking to the future rather than the past when the club's annual general meeting takes place at the County Ground on Sunday, December 28.

Shareholders will shortly be able to examine the club's accounts for seasons 1998-99, 1999-2000 and 2000-1.

All three sets have been signed off by the Town board, they are now being printed and should start dropping through shareholders' letter boxes in the next week to 10 days.

Devlin said: "The AGM will be held before the match with Brighton and Hove Albion.

"It has taken some time to get to the stage where we can put shareholders in the picture. There are still further accounts to be completed of course.

"I would hope shareholders take the opportunity to absorb these accounts and then look forward.

"I am not interested in haranguing those who have been at the club before.

"We have to learn from the mistakes of the past, and move on. I believe that is what we are now working hard to achieve.

"This club obviously angered its creditors when the first CVA failed and we had to go into a second period of administration.

"We are working hard to win back the trust and goodwill of the business community and will continue to do so."

The perception among many Town fans is that the club's problems really began to mount up when it tried to rekindle the Premiership dream.

Devlin insists there will be no question of the club 'gambling' to chase future success.

He said: "Were previous boards wrong to want success at the highest level for this club? The answer to that is no.

"Were they wrong to spend more money than was coming in? Probably yes.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing. As I said, it is Swindon Town's future this board is focused on.

"We will be prudent and I make no apologies for the fact that isn't a word to get the fans excited.

"This club cannot afford to 'gamble' and fail and it is not a scenario we would allow to happen.

"We want to succeed on and off the pitch but people should never lose sight of the fact that this is a business and rules have to be adhered to."

The AGM is expected to start at 11am ahead of the match with Mark McGhee's Seagulls, which kicks off at 3pm.

Town's reserves travel to Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow for a Pontins Combination Cup clash (6.30pm).

Tickets for the Boxing Day match at Rushden and Diamonds will go on general sale on Monday December 8. Prices are as follows: £14 (adults), £9 (concessions) and £4 (under 12s).
