SUPERMARINE boss Ray Baverstock remains quietly confident that his side can book an intriguing-looking FA Trophy third round tie with Histon by disposing of Maidenhead United in the second-round replay tonight (7.45pm).
A late Giles Harris penalty at Hunts Copse on Saturday earned Marine a second crack at the Ryman League Premier Division outfit with the prize of a trip to Cambridgeshire available to the winner after yesterday's draw.
United, bossed by former Oxford and Norwich defender John Dreyer, were confident of picking off Baverstock's men at the first time of asking.
But the Marine chief believes his travellers still have what it takes to book their place in round three.
"It's going to be tough, but I thought we should have won it on Saturday to be honest,'' said Baverstock.
"We had a sloppy 10 minutes and in the end we did well to get a replay.
"They will be stronger at home and they will fancy themselves, but we know what we have got to do.
"Histon (third in Dr Martens Eastern Division) is another game that is winable but this is the big one for us now.
"It's important for us to progress as far as we can.''
James Blastland, who was on the bench on Saturday, is absent for Marine, while Dave Gee is only rated "50-50'' because of a bout of 'flu.
Steve White's Chippenham are also in replay action tonight and they too will have to hit the road if they make it to round three.
Dr Martens Eastern Division high-flyers King's Lynn await the winners of tonight's rematch between the Bluebirds and Basingstoke, after Nathan Edwards' injury-time strike grabbed a draw for the Wiltshire side on Saturday.
White was hit by a major injury crisis for that clash and it has only been partly eased for tonight.
Midfielder Mark Harrington returns from suspension and striker Adie Mings should have recovered from illness, while Garry Horgan sent off on Saturday plays.
White said: "The onus is on Basingstoke to go for it tonight.
'For us, there is the carrot of a long coach trip to King's Lynn in the next round but it's quite a good draw.''
