ONE of the Children in Need appeal's most senior managers was guest speaker at a Swindon school's presentation and certificate evening.
And she praised the pupils for their efforts both in raising funds and raising the performance of Hreod Parkway School to make it the most improved in the town.
Kate Power, the appeal's head of marketing and public relations, was invited to the school to receive a cheque for £566.27.
The sum was raised by pupils who devised events ranging from a comedy revue to persuading senior staff to wear fancy dress.
Ms Power told the pupils and parents: "Life is about overcoming obstacles and Children in Need enables many thousands of young people to succeed, despite the difficulties they face.
"The Hreod Parkway students have also overcome many obstacles to achieve success that will give them real opportunities in life."
She was referring to the fact that the efforts of the pupils had placed their school among the 100 most improved in the country, according to the latest Government figures.
It is also the most improved school in Swindon.
