Ref. 28038-02WILTSHIRE Witness Support was set up seven years ago to help people giving evidence in court.
The service, run by the national charity Victim Support, is based in Swindon Crown Court but also helps witnesses appearing in the magistrates' court.
Run by two paid workers with around 20 volunteers, the organisation helps both defence and prosecution witnesses and their families.
Kim Swinden, 29, senior co-ordinator, said: "We are there to meet witnesses as soon as they come through the door.
"Many have not been in a court before, and we can show them around.
"We are there to reassure and support people, who are often worried about seeing the defendant again.
"Witnesses are also often worried about having to sit in a waiting area with the defendant, so we provide a separate room."
The service can be contacted on 01793 484040.
The organisation also needs more volunteers call the same number.
