Cirencester remained rock-bottom of the Gloucestershire Premier Division after a 20-8 home defeat by Aretians.
They started well, Paddy Brennan slotting a penalty despite the difficult conditions. And things got even better when, from the restart, Ciren surged upfield and No 8 Tristan Chippendale drove 20 yards for an unconverted touchdown.
That was how it stayed until five minutes before half-time when Aretians broke through for an unconverted try.
Turning around at the break to play downhill with an 8-5 lead, Cirencester should have been home and dry, but instead found themselves on the defensive.
However the turning point of the game came when Chippendale made a tackle, but clashed with the right leg of the Aretians second row.
An ambulance was called and the decision was taken to move pitches to ensure the game continued but Cirencester gave up the slope.
The Aretians fly-half dropped a goal and they scored a further two tries, one of which was converted to seal victory.
Wootton Bassett's second string enjoyed a superb 36-12 win over their Tadley counterparts.
Centre Mark Lewis darted over for the first of six tries and Paul Shimmel was next.
James Collins made it 15-0 and Sean Millwaters added the extra points before Tadley picked up a converted try just before the break.
Tries came from Mark Trowbridge, Dan Mathews and Millwaters in the second half.
