Paul Bowen's comments on BA's plans not to fly-over Fairford (Nov 24) need closer examination.
Surely such an organisation as the RIAT should have made preparation for a visit in this year's Air Tattoo when they knew that retirement loomed towards the end of the year? Given that they were able to organise two BA 747 pleasure flights into the 2003 Tattoo from Heathrow, I'm surprised that the RIAT's relationship with BA did not extend to working for a final fly-over by Concorde.
It all seems to be a case of 'far too little, too late' and Mr Bowen's acknowledgement that BA's decision not to fly-over is probably due to 'a number of commercial and operational factors' is evidence that no extensive effort was put into organising a farewell fly-over in the first place. Disappointed in the RIAT.
