A Swindon teenager has been named the third sexiest specs wearer in the country even though she does not wear glasses.
Sixteen-year-old Amy Barber, from Eldene, was approached in Swindon town centre earlier this year and asked to pose for a photo wearing glasses provided by organisers of the Specsavers Look of 2003 competition.
In September she won the regional final after being selected from thousands of entries across the country. This month she attended the national final at the Langham Hilton in London, where she competed against seven others and was beaten to the top spot by Trinh Ho Si of the Netherlands.
Swindon-born Amy won a weekend break for two in London, £150 worth of specs and £100 worth of Almay skincare products, as well as a Look of 2003 trophy.
"The whole night was fantastic, and my parents and friends who were in the audience gave me brilliant support," said Amy, who has dreamed of being a model since the age of 13.
David Grieves, director of Specsavers Opticians in Swindon, said: "Amy looked fantastic on the evening and did all of us from Swindon proud.
"She is certainly a face to look out for in the future and who knows, being chosen as one of the country's sexiest specs wearers may be her first step to life as a top model."
