WE refer to the letter published on November 26 from R J Goulding, entitled "If a residential home has to go, get the right one". As the managing director of the Cheriton Nursing Home, I take this opportunity to correct the inaccuracies included in the letter.
Firstly, R J Goulding has never been a resident at the Cheriton Nursing Home, but was a patient in the Montgomery suite which is situated within the Cheriton Building, and operated by the Swindon & Marlborough NHS Trust.
Secondly, Montgomery Suite is a totally separate unit to the Cheriton Nursing Home and we have no dealings with the patient's care within that unit.
Thirdly, the Cheriton Nursing Home has adequate bathing facilities that are frequently used by our residents.
Lastly, we remind you that the June 26, 2003 edition of the Evening Advertiser you kindly published photographs of the birthday celebrations for three of our residents who had reached their centenary year and one who was 102. You will note these celebrations were held in the garden and patio areas and 21 of our 30 residents, mostly in wheelchairs were in attendance.
Furthermore the Cheriton established in 1948, is a privately owned nursing home and not owned by Social Services.
