WILTSHIRE College has submitted plans to build a new campus in Devizes.
The college wants to replace the existing mobile classrooms with a one storey purpose-built building on the same site in Southbroom Road.
College principal George Bright said the new building would cost in the region of £500,000.
The college has submitted a planning application to Kennet District Council.
The college has been trying to find a suitable site for a new purpose-built campus in Devizes for five years.
One of the sites under consideration was on the North Gate redevelopment which fell through.
Mr Bright said the Southbroom Road site was the most suitable location for a new building.
He said: "It's fairly central and people know where it is, being next to the leisure centre and the school. We have improved the parking there recently."
The Devizes campus serves 1,500 students a year, the majority of whom are adults studying a variety of part-time courses, including vocational, A levels and GCSEs.
Mr Bright said: "The proposed new building would be modern and would have low maintenance costs and would offer improved facilities to our students. We are looking to expand the range of courses we provide in Devizes in response to what people want.
"The IT room that is on the site will remain as a separate building."
