DEVIZES Town boss Dave Hopkins is planning to tinker with the team's playing system after it slumped to its third consecutive defeat on Saturday.

It appeared the rot had stopped the after a passionate performance against league high flyers Paulton Rovers last week, which they narrowly lost.

But Saturday's defeat leaves Devizes fourth from bottom, just three points off the relegation zone.

Assistant manager Shaun Moffatt described the team as Jeykell and Hyde at the moment, and said it appeared to him as if there were 11 different players on the pitch in Saturday's game.

Moffatt said he was disappointed with the result and the management is now looking into changing the players' roles on the pitch, and introducing a different system to give the strikers more support.

"We're thinking about bringing in a more attacking system," he said.

"At the moment we have Marcus Wallen, who is only 18, and Simon Drewit up front who is taking all the responsibility.

"We spoke to the chairman after the game and he said this season is going to be a learning curve for everyone involved at the club.

"The lads are working hard in training, but sometimes the belief is not quite there and we need that little bit of luck to turn things around."

Devizes started brightly in the first 20 minutes and had a host of chances to take the lead, but incredibly were 2-0 down at half time.

The first goal came in Odd Down's first attack of the game, when they broke through the Devizes defence leaving a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The keeper was caught off his line and the Odd Down striker tucked the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal.

Moffatt said his players kept their heads up and workedhard to get back in the match, but 15 minutes later Odd Down struck again.

After half time Devizespeppered the Odd Down goal, but every shot was either blocked or off target.

In the last three matches Devizes has been unable to catch a break and true to recent form the team's bad luck turned to worse when their skipper and centre half Kevin Bush was sent off for dissent.

Devizes refused to lie down and pushed up the pitch, but were hit on the counter attack and conceded a third 15 minutes from time.

"You can't blame all our recent performances on bad luck, you have got to make your own luck at this level," Moffatt said.

Devizes travel to fifth-placed Bridgewater on Saturday.

Moffatt said there will be almost a full squad to pick from and is confident the team can come away with three points.

"We are never a team that goes out for a draw, we haven't got a draw all season, we want to win," he said.

"Hopefully we can get a result at this game and get our season rolling again. We were all a bit down after the game because the lads can't understand why we're not getting the results we know we're capable of."
