I read the Adver every day on the internet and would like to pay tribute to an area of nursing and caring that sometimes may be overlooked.
The Prospect Hospice and the Macmillan nurses get all the credit so richly deserved, but I would like to add the nursing staff of the Orchard Ward (GWH Intermediate Care) to that list.
Our mother, Iris, passed away there last Saturday, having spent the last three months of her life in that facility. Through all that difficult time, nothing was ever too much trouble for the nursing staff.
They were so considerate to our family during the long hours spent there, but most of all, comforted and cared for Mum and went far beyond the call of duty.
To all of them (I hesitate to name them in case I miss just one), thank you.
