Bath will appeal against the six-week ban handed to Martyn Wood at an Rugby Football Union disciplinary meeting in Leeds on Tuesday night.
A disciplinary panel found the scrum-half guilty of stamping on the head of Leicester Tigers flanker Lewis Moody, but the club intends to appeal with the hearing set for tonight in London.
Wood was sent-off during the first half of Saturday's 13-12 Zurich Premiership victory over Leicester at Welford Road.
The player pleaded not guilty at the hearing to striking an opponent on the head with his boot and, despite written support from Moody and Dean Richards, the panel went with the referee's written report.
Meanwhile, former Bath player Kevin Yates has been cited for stamping while playing for Sale Sharks against London Irish on Sunday.
The hearing will take place, alongside Wood's appeal, tonight.
