THE Abbey Leaze building at Malmesbury's Burton Hill School has been renamed after the mother of a former pupil who died of cancer.
Polly Viner House, as it is now called, was given a £250,000 refit to convert it into a six bed semi-independent living accommodation for teenagers with severe physical and mental difficulties.
Ms Viner, who died several years ago, researched possible sources of funding and came across the Star Fish Trust, which donated £100,000 to convert Abbey Leaze
The trust requested the name change in Ms Viner's honour.
Pete Viner returned with his sister Sam for the opening ceremony last Tuesday, which appeals co-ordinator Kaye O'Neill described as a special occasion.
"Everybody was amazed how nice it looked. Sam Viner said it had exceeded her expectations," she said.
