FIVE Salisbury Tennis Club members - four present and one past - lifted Wiltshire ladies to promotion from Group 6B of the Winter Inter County Cup indoors at Taunton.
After victories over South of Scotland (9-0) and the Isle of Man (8-1), the real drama was saved for the third day decider with title rivals Cornwall.
It all came down to Wilt-shire's greater experience at doubles play. Cornwall's young team led 4-2 after the six singles matches, but were finally pipped 5-4 as Wiltshire bounced back.
Two of Salisbury's players, Karina Weedon and June Keen, were unbeaten on all three days in singles and doubles.
Jacky Witt partnered Karina with Kath More playing with June.
The first doubles pair comprised ex-Salisbury member Karen Chapman and her Swindon partner Becky Poole.
Winning the group took Wiltshire back to the level from which they were relegated a year ago.
Outdoor league matches at the weekend were again subjected to a weather lottery.
Only those due to play on Sunday morning were lucky.
Saturday's rain and that on Sunday afternoon meant more postponements for others.
