Premier Division
SHERSTON Town are on course for the title after the leaders beat last season's champions, The Duke Corsham, 3-1.
Alan Webb scrambled home Sherston's opener which was cancelled out by Luke Chapman's strike from the edge of the area.
The game turned against The Duke when they lost the services of Frank Rogers on the hour mark. Soon after their leading marksman Antony Vizard tapped home to make it 2-1 and when the same player hit his 20th goal of the season to take the score to 3-1 the points were safe. The Duke had the chance to level with the score at 2-1 but Darren Hughes hit the bar with a header.
Dog & Fox Ashley were involved in a 12 goal thriller against Box rovers which saw them emerge victorious 8-4 winners. It was a great all round team display by the Bradford side but it will be Steve Roddy who steals all the headlines.
Roddy who normally averages about a dozen chances a game earned the nickname Shoddy Roddy for his sloppy finishing but on this occasion Roddy was in seventh heaven as he hit seven of his side's eight goals, the first coming in the 15th minute and the last in the final minute.
In between Roddy's scoring feat their was time for Wayne Munday (2), Tim Jefferies and Tom Smith to score for Box and Ricky Trott to score the Dog's fourth.
The Dog's Mark Gerrish received special praise, although not scoring he had a hand in 5 of his teams goals.
Calne Town (Sunday) were indebted to their keeper Mark Ogilvie who was outstanding throughout their clash with All Cannings.
Rich Chaffey's first half goal for Calne was erased in the second period by Charlie Collier's second goal of the season. A point might not be good enough for Calne as they battle it out with Cannings, Winsley and Hullavington to avoid the drop but with players coming back into the team it could be the result that was needed to kick start a winning run.
Division One
BIDDESTONE Social's 6-1 win at Trowbridge Harriers coupled with Maud Heath Sports surprise defeat away at the George Lacock saw Biddestone return to the top of the table. Paul Poiner and Matt Pratley put Biddestone 2-0 to the good before Mark Williams halved the gap for the Harriers when he netted his first of the season in the 41st minute.
Within a minute Biddestone restored their 2 goal cushion when the Harriers Mark Williams put through his own goal.
Harriers were reduced to ten men when they lost Andy York through injury and Biddestone took full advantage of the situation with Rob Pocock, Danny Jones and Matt Pratley netting further goals before they had James Hiscocks dismissed along with Harriers John Baker for fighting.
The George Lacock claimed a shock 2-1 victory at home to Maud Heath Sports who had won their previous 8 games.
A second half header from Tim Culling and a wondrous volley from Jason King which opened his account for The George proved good enough for the villagers prior to Robbie Fry hitting the Sports consolation late in the game which set up a few nervous moments at the death for Chris Edwards victorious side.
Dave Macey scored on his debut for West End Wanderers but his goal was unable to save Wanderers from losing 3-1.
Macey's appearance for the Melksham based club means that manger Nathan Mantle has used a staggering total of 30 players in his teams 11 games to date. Colerne won with strikes from Richard Smart, Steve Tarren and an own goal from Leon Rockley which was a blinding volley from 12 yards.
Chippenham Sports & Social Club left it late before claiming a 4-2 win over the Horse & Groom.
Paul Bendell and Paul Daly's goals for the Horse match the efforts of Darren Whiston and Tony Kerwick for the Sports.
With only five minutes to go Gary Blackwood's double allowed the Sports to get back to winning ways after 2 consecutives losses.
Division Two
A WATERLOGGED pitch at Priestly Grove, Calne was the reason given for the postponement of the top of the table clash between North Star A and Corsham Centre. Unbelievably after just a few days of rain the Youth Centre's playing surface was declared unfit, which came as a huge surprise as only 3 matches have been postponed on one of the best pitches in the league in the past seven seasons.
Roadrunners FC entertained Holt FC and were expected to be on a hiding to nothing, but they did themselves proud only losing 6-4 when many people were thinking that Holt would notch up double figures.
Lee Kelty, Rich Eddy, Kit Straker and Adam Stevens hit the target for Roadrunners with Neil Grant (2), Tyler Pang and a fantastic treble from Tom Pang making up Holt's half dozen, Pang's first goal which was phenomenal volley was described by both club secretaries as a wonder goal that the likes off may never be seen again.
Sutton Benger arrested a run of five defeats when they beat Spencer Sports in controversial circumstances. Their 2-1 win saw them come from behind to seal the win, Royston Aust put Spencer ahead only for Nick Slade to level. Slade hit Benger's winner in the second period despite pleas of offside.
Biddestone Arms had both Kevin Hatherall and Ryan Kelleher shown the red card but still managed to come up trumps against Southwick Sports who they beat 3-1.
Jamie Moth gave Southwick the lead which didn't last long when Adie Bray who after weeks of trying finally broke his duck for the Arms to tie the scores. Dean Fry slotted home from the penalty spot to give the Arms the first half lead. Having already had Hatherall dismissed in the first period the Arms lost Kelleher five minutes after the restart and with the Arms down to ten men it should have all been over for them but it wasn't to be as some spirited defending and great goalkeeping firstly from Kevin Challis and then Chris Gray allowed Biddestone to hold out and when Fry added his second of the game their was no way back for Southwick.
A hat trick for Scott Evans plus singles from Ben Munns, Chris Pitman and Chris Crome eased Christian Malford to a comfortable 6-2 win away to Somerford who replied with goals from Chris Yeo and John Goad.
Division Three
WITH leaders Four Seasons without a game following the withdrawal of All Cannings B, Parsons Nose's 9-0 hammering of Cooper Avon saw them close the gap at the top to just three points with two games in hand.
Rick Noonan opened and finished the scoring for the Nose with Wayne Bailey (3), Darren Whiting (2), Gavin Bailey and Craig Townsend's goals sandwiching Noonan's efforts.
Bradstone Rovers moved off the foot of the table after they defeated Old Lane United 4-0, Alan Eades (2), Kelvin Dickinson and Rob Lymath scored for Rovers who until All Canning's resignation were well clear of the danger zone.
Potterne FC's recent signing Johnny Emm was once again among the goals. Emm who was in red hot form hit six of the best as his side overpowered Corsham Park Rangers 7-3. Andy Beavan-Witts added number seven while Paul Smith, Gordon Willshire and Ian Wootton shared Rangers goals.
Division Four
THE race for the Division Four title promises to be one of the closest for many years as the four leading contenders continue to pull away from the chasing pack.
Current pacesetters King Arms (Trowbridge) were the highest scorers of the day as they crushed Old Road Tavern 12-2.
The Arms were irresistible in front of goal and scored almost at will, Scott Askew (3), Matt Minnis (3), Dean Murden (2), Jerone Dyer (2), Ross Pike and Jamie Iles led the rout with Rick Lovenburry and Neil Roynon replying for the Tavern who were left shell-shocked at the final whistle having lost the reverse fixture only 2-1 they were upbeat that they may have inflicted the Arms with only their 2nd loss of the season before the game kicked off.
First half goals from Craig Dore and Phil Clark were unable to prevent Pack Horse Rangers from going down 3-2 away to Rowde who hit back to win with second half goals from Phillip Crew, Jamie Mullins and Mike Keeling.
Julian Davison ran the length of the field before firing home a brilliant equalizer for the Plough after Nick Still had volleyed Classic FC ahead.
Davison's moment of magic was the Bradford's side only consolation as they suffered defeat number ten of the season. Further goals from Still, Dayle Townsend, Kevin Bridgeman and substitute John Baker eased Classic home 5-1.
Fascia Graphics are starting to find their feet in the league as goals from Jamie Farquharson and Luke Stoneham earned them a nail biting 2-1 win over North Star B from who Nick Bloodworth netted with 5 minutes remaining to set up a tense finish.
