I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that took part in the Calne Christmas Light Celebrations on Saturday evening.
Whether you were a spectator or a participant, I hope that you enjoyed the evening and thank you for supporting this event.
Congratulations to John Parkinson for winning the greatest grandparent competition and thank you for switching on the Christmas tree lights this year.
The community of Calne came together in spectacular fashion on Saturday night and proved that given the opportunity and by working together the people of this town can achieve fantastic things.
The River of Light Lantern Parade stretched as far as the eye could see, with 287 lanterns being parade through the town.
To everyone that took part a huge thank you from all the organisers.
Your patience and cooperation in the lantern collection and the parade ensured that everything proceeded safely and helped make this the best Christmas event yet.
Also, a big thank you to Wiltshire Police for their help with the traffic management of this event and for ensuring that the safety of those taking part in the parade.
Finally my sincerest thanks to the hard working volunteers who helped make this happen. It couldn't have been done without you.
