Terrick Meakin, 71, from the Trowbridge Camera Club, has been made an honorary member of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.
The award for meritorious service recognises 25 years of voluntary service including making presentations and giving talks promoting photography.
Mr Meakin said: "I still use most of the old technology because I find it more rewarding.
"Nowadays most photographic work is done with digital cameras but I would miss the thrill of working in my own darkroom.
"I particularly like this award because it has come from my peers."
